I’ve been fortunate to call Washington Elementary home for the last 16 years and have been teaching for 24 years. I have a B.A. in Anthropology, BCLAD Teaching Credential, MA in Cross Cultural Education and I have certification in Reading Recovery and Administration. I was a Fulbright Teacher and participated in an exchange to Scarborough, England. I have a teen daughter, cats, dogs and chickens. I love camping, traveling and vintage items. My favorite thing about being a teacher is that students always keep me on my toes. Our STEAM focus is not only engaging for students but for so much fun teachers! Being a TK/K teacher has made me realize there is no other grade I would rather teach. It is such a privedge to be able to promote inquiries about learning new things and fostering students’ curiosity at such a young age. We frequently use the Design Process in our classroom to solve problems large and small. One of my favorite quotes is from William Butler Yeats: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”.
