Principal Juan Núñez

Welcome to Washington Elementary STEAM Magnet School, Home of the EAGLES!

I am honored to be of service to our community as the principal because our school is filled with incredibly talented and creative problem solving students who love learning. Our staff members consistently focus on helping our students grow into responsible, respectful community members who have the skills and desire to be lifelong learners and global contributors. We are committed to providing highly effective instruction that leads to strong student learning and growth. We continue to innovate our instructional programs to include a STEAM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math), using Inquiry and Project-Based Learning that is supported through our Makerspace classroom. As the world changes, we are growing as professionals. We strive to develop powerful learning partnerships with students so that teachers can facilitate deep learning experiences that are supported by integrated technology, and result in accelerated learning for students.

I believe that we, as educators and parents, have the privilege and responsibility of working together as a community and with integrity, to create an inclusive environment that ensures every student is prepared for success. One of the strengths of our school is the support we are provided by our community. Whether it's parents volunteering regularly in the classroom or parents supporting field trips or WESMS community-building events, our or community members such as the Little Italy Association and Soul Church help us to prepare our grounds for school each year, the time and effort our community members put into our school helps us deliver the high-quality learning environment that our students deserve.

It is a privilege to be part of the Washington Elementary STEAM Magnet School community and have a hand in shaping the futures of our kids!

Go Eagles!

Sincerely,

Juan Núñez

Principal
